Sviatoslav Nikitenko is a famous glyptic artist. Hi makes his cameos with different materials like cornelian, axstone, topaz, morion etc. Clear polishing technique of his gives the stone a special soft shine. The artist graduated from architecture faculty of Building Academy in 1982. Then he worked as a an engineer for various designing firms. All his free time he devoted to carving on wood, ivory, or stone. Since 1993 he is a professional glyptic artist. His favorite theme is special sort of small ikons called in Russian «vorotniye».
This icons is a kind of ancient decorations that emerged in Russia in XIII-XV centuries. Carving was executed in wood, ivory or stone. All icons had elaborate framing.
Nowadays, Sviatoslav Nikitenko continues his work in the field of art, and is full of new ideas. His icons are truly a work of contemporary glyptic art. Tthe artist prepares new collection of works now, wich surely will be presented in our gallery after some time.
